Terms of use

In effect from 6 September 2026

These are the terms for using Sarafu. They are short on purpose. Using the app means you accept them.

What Sarafu is

A tool for recording and reviewing your own spending. It is a ledger you keep, not a bank, not a payment service and not financial advice. It does not move money and it is not connected to your bank account.

Nothing in the app is a recommendation about what to do with your money. Decisions you make after looking at it are your own.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into it.

You agree not to:

  • Use the app for anything unlawful.
  • Try to reach workspaces or accounts that are not yours.
  • Interfere with the service or the infrastructure it runs on.

Your data is yours

What you record belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it and use it only to provide the app, as described in the privacy policy. You can export all of it to a spreadsheet at any time.

Shared workspaces

When you add someone to a book, you are choosing to show them what is in it. Consider that before sharing, and remove access when it is no longer wanted. Anyone with permission to record in a shared book can add entries that everyone in it will see.

What we do not promise

The app is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will be free of faults or never interrupted, and we are not liable for losses arising from your use of it or from any figure it displays.

Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. The export exists for exactly that.

Ending it

You can stop using Sarafu whenever you like and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk.

Changes, and how to reach us

If these terms change materially we will say so in the app. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
